Blenheim Horse Trials 2013

Blenheim Horse Trials is an annual three-day event, staged in the grounds of Blenheim Palace. For those unaware, eventing involves horse and rider competing in three disciplines: dressage, cross country and show jumping over the course of three days. This year I attended the cross country day; my favourite because from a spectators point of view it's the most relaxed, you're guaranteed a great view and you get a full days exercise! I believe children under the age of 14 are admitted free of charge, so it really is a feasible day out for the whole family.

Anyway, we had a great day, it barely rained and there were plenty of thrills and spills to gawp at. Though thankfully, I think I'm correct in saying all of the horses and riders ended the day safe and sound. The competition was strong throughout the day, with the last rider securing one of only a few clear rounds on the course to put them in first place going into the show jumping!

Below are some pictures I took on my hike around the courses; I really enjoyed the craftsmanship on some of the fences, particularly the bears and snails!
