Since the start of 2014, I’ve really upped the amount of time I spend on fitness related activities; that being said, it’s still something I find utterly tedious. When my mind is occupied I definitely find things a bit easier. Recently, I’ve started listening to cast albums while exercising. Their story like nature distracts my mind, the time floats by and before I know it I’ve completed a whole cardio workout. The only problem being, cast recordings inevitably include a few slower, more wordy tunes that can immediately stop my motivation dead – hence the creation of my ‘Musical Theatre Workout’ playlist!
I essentially went through all of the cast albums I own, picking out the fun, fast paced, upbeat or simply motivational songs that really help get me through a series of sidekicks, lunges or squats (because who actually likes sidekicks, lunges or squats?). It’s over 3 hours long, so that I can stick it on shuffle and not listen to the same songs every workout (…I get bored easily); and ranges from the old (Cats, Annie, Whistle Down The Wind) to the new (Kinky Boots, Bring it On, Rocky).
Exercise helps to clear my mind, raise my mood and get the day off to a great start – this playlist has repeatedly exaggerated those effects for me, so I hope you enjoy it too!
